3 Ways To Take Better Care Of Your Pool This Summer

As you prepare for this summer's swim season, make sure that you have everything you need to take good care of your pool. Here are three ways you can take better care of your pool this year.

#1 Invest In A Robot Vacuum

The first thing you need to do is invest in a robot vacuum. A robot vacuum can be a great assistance to you. It can clean the bottom of your pool for you and keep the bottom and sides of your pool clean. It can suck up any any debris that settles on the bottom of your pool and ensure that algae and bacteria don't accumulate on the bottom of your pool.

#2 Keep A Surface Skimmer Handy

Second, you are going to want to make sure that you skim your pool on a daily basis. Doing this every day will help ensure that your pool is always crystal clear when you need to use it. If you don't skim your pool every day, debris will quickly accumulate and it will take more effort to skim the surface of your pool. Just add this into part of your daily routine, or rotate the responsibility with the different members of your household.

#3 Clean Out The Filter Once A Week

Third, at least once a week, you are going to want to clean the filter. When you clean the filter, turn it off first. Then, take off the filter cap and lift the basket out. Clean out the basket and put all the debris in the trash. If your filter becomes clogged with debris, it will not be able to do its job. Once you have cleaned the filter, put it back in place and turn the filter back on.

#4 Scrub The Sides Of Your Pool Twice A Month

Fourth, you should also scrub the sides of your pool at least twice a month. To clean the side of your pool, use a scrub brush on the sides to remove any debris and build-up. Algae can creep up on you and grow on the sides of your pool if you don't scrub it and keep it really clean. Don't wait for the algae to appear before you clean your pool; prevent algae growth by cleaning the sides of your pool twice a month.

Put all of the above maintenance tasks on your calendar at home or on your chore chart for the summer. Make these maintenance tasks a part of your everyday routine, and your pool will always look great.
